Other 'About' Me
As an Electronics Engineer, inventor and musician – in a previous life – we owned a series of companies in the Pro-Music and Commercial Audio/Video industries.
It started in Denver, CO, where I design/built products for musicians (custom guitar tube-amps, electronic keyboard modifications, MIDI controls, etc.) Then we moved to Seattle, WA , where I worked on touring concert sound systems. With our next company, AudioVisual Frontiers, I designed and built large sound and video systems for churches, auditoriums, nightclubs, boardrooms, military command centers and museums. We were awarded #12 on Washington States 100 Fastest Growing Companies.
After leaving that industry and the hassles of the “big city,” we moved to Anacortes, a small town on an island in Washington. I switched from music to my enjoyment of photography. With digital cameras just starting to come to market, we opened That Photo Shoppe, a photo gallery and digital photo-lab. The gallery displayed my work, along with several other local artists. But, due to that recession thing that hit everyone around 2008, the gallery closed, but the photo restorations, scanning and fine-art printing side is still active, along with the workshops. It expanded to include other arts, is now a home based business called Alternative Focus.
And, if that’s not enough, we also started Armchair ePublishing, providing graphic design and page layout for indie authors. Or, check out, Alternative Inbound Marketing, which provides on-line marketing, email marketing and website design for artists and local business.
Of the over 6 Million or so photographs you'll see in your lifetime — Here's a few of mine for you to enjoy, and hopefully learn from.
My story? …I'm a pro photographer. I take pictures that I like, if someone else likes them too, that's great. If they like it enough to buy it — even better!
Living in the Pacific Northwest, we are blessed to be surrounded by so much natural beauty. These breathtaking sceneries grabs our attention, creating images that are perfect for Fine Art Photography. Photographing landscapes became a natural extension of the surroundings. It is no wonder that the Pacific Northwest is one of the most photographed places.
I'm an enthusiastic, constant learner. I enjoy conceiving, setting up and taking the shot along with creatively working on it in today’s Digital Darkroom via Lightroom and Photoshop.
There's always something new to try, learn & teach — Which is something else I enjoy doing… I have a lot of fun teaching photography, Lightroom and Photoshop classes (on Mac & PC). We also produce photography and artist workshops around Washington state through our business, Alternative Focus.
